La Forge sera un des modes présents dans Halo 4.
Différences avec les précédents jeux
- Trois cartes seront dédiées à la forge, dont une, Forge Ravine, ressemblant beaucoup à Univers Forge de Halo Reach.
- Une fonction Magnet, permettant d'ajuster automatiquement la position d'un objet par rapport à un autre a été ajoutée.
- L'éclairage deviens dynamique, ce qui signifie que les objets auront des ombres propres dépendantes des sources de lumières présentes dans l'environnement. Ce système, coûteux en puissance de calcul, entraînera immanquablement du lag.
- Il est possible de bloquer un objet en utilisant la flèche gauche sur la croix directionnelle, afin que celui ne puisse plus être bougé accidentellement.
- Les objets se colorent en vert lorsqu'ils sont survolés par le curseur, en jaune lorsqu'il sont en cours de manipulation, et en rouge lorsqu'ils sont bloqués. Ce système permettra de réduire les erreurs en facilitant la visualisation des objets sélectionnés.
- Quatre zones à effet modifiable (Player Trait Zone) sont disponibles. Leurs effets sont répartis en quatre catégories : Shields and Health, Movements, Sensors et Appearance. Shields and Health propose de régler la résistance aux dégâts, la puissance du bouclier et sa vitesse de recharge. Movements influe sur la vitesse du joueur, la puissance de saut, la gravité et l'utilisation des véhicules. Appearance peut fournir un camouflage et activer des pointeurs sur les joueurs.
- Le budget de base est le même que celui de Halo Reach, pour un total de 10.000 de base. Le coût des objets est malgré tout inférieur.
- Il est possible de dupliquer un objet, en utilisant la flèche bas sur la croix directionnelle, ce qui limite les allers-retours dans les menus lors de l'utilisation intensive d'un certain type d'objet.
Fonctions non intégrées
- La fonction Retour qui aurait permit de supprimer une erreur n'est pas disponible.
- Il n'y a toujours pas de possibilité de modifier la météo ou l'heure de la journée.
