La bande originale est composée par [[Martin O'Donnell]] et [[Michael Salvatori]] pour [[Halo 2]]. Plusieurs interprètes externes y participent, comme : Incubus, [[Breaking Benjamin]], [[Steve Vai]], Nile Rodgers et Hoobastank. Elle est divisée en deux volumes vendus séparément.

Il est toutefois bon de noter que le style de musique change selon que le joueur incarne le [[John-117|Major]] ou l'[[Thel 'Vadam|Arbiter]], les musiques étant plus « théologiennes » qu'avec l'Humanité, où elles sont plus axées sur le combat.
