À l'occasion du remake de Halo 2, Halo 2 : Anniversary, la bande originale musicale est revue par le directeur audio du projet anniversaire, Paul Lipson qui est épaulé de Tom Salta et Lennie Moore.

Au contraire de son prédécesseur Halo : Combat Evolved Anniversary, le projet musical est interprété intégralement par San Francisco Symphony avec un orchestre de 85 personnes et un chœur d'opéra de 40 voix et de 28 garçons,[3] à l'exception du titre Gungnir Mix (réinterprétation de Mjolnir Mix) où le chant de la mélodie principale est la reprise du chant des Chanticleer du premier remake. Par ailleurs, pour ce dernier titre et pour d'autres, le guitariste Steve Vai revient pour une nouvelle interprétation.

Développement

Sur le plan organisationnel, le projet fut complexe pour le groupe Finishing Move. Ils ont dû faire beaucoup de recherches et d’études sur les ressources originales de Halo 2, en terme de déconstruction, pour déterminer exactement ce qui devait être recréé, réorganisé, réenregistré et comment le faire. Le travail a pu être optimiser et faciliter grâce à une équipe musicale où chaque compositeur avait un rôle spécialisé. Paul Lipson et Lennie Moore se sont concentrés sur la transcription et la réorchestration des signaux orchestrale, Tom Salta sur la reproduction des percussions et de synthétiseur, et White et Trifon sur la reproduction des textures et du rock ambiant.

L'une des contraintes techniques fut que Steve Vai ne devait pas utiliser sa pédale de phaser (permettant de jouer partie rythmique doublée).[4]
