A sheet of 300gm watercolour paper containing the original watercolour, gouache and ink artwork as featured in Halo Warfleet – An illustrated Guide to the Spacecraft of Halo licensed by 343 Industries and published by Egmont. Painted by John R. Mullaney in 2017. The largest of all the Covenant craft painted by John, the scale of this multi-kilometre wide vessel can be gauged by the inclusion of the Dreadnought at the top of the painting. Whilst the artist enhanced the original artwork with some digital flourishes, the majority of this unusual looking creation is the result of many months' careful pencil drafting and inking. The colouring of its various levels was achieved through the careful application of patiently applied layers of detailed watercolour washes. The final artwork appears on pages 56-57 of Halo Warfleet – An illustrated Guide to the Spacecraft of Halo, (see images, book not included in lot) and the ink line drawing approval of the same artwork appears on pages 52-53. Valuation note: several of the smaller vignettes and cutaways have already sold to Halo collectors.
