Sous prétexte que mourir au combat assurerait leur salut dans l'au-delà. On les a déployés en masse sur le front… Sacrifiés par groupes de quarante… pour défendre une cause qui n'était pas la leur. Aucun n'en est jamais revenu… sauf lui. Combat après combat, guerre après guerre, témoin impuissant de la mort de ses compagnons, Atriox s'est fait un nom. À chaque victoire, sa légende… et sa haine envers les Covenants, ont pris de l'ampleur. Et quand il a fini par devenir trop encombrant… ils ont essayé de l'éliminer. De mémoire d'homme, de toute l'histoire millénaire des Covenants… Atriox a été le premier à oser les défier… et à avoir survécu. Et sa rébellion en a inspiré d'autres. Atriox et ses Parias se sont emparés des ressources covenantes. Ils ont mis la galaxie à feu et à sang… et gagné en force à chaque attaque, ralliant à leur cause un ramassis d'assassins et de mercenaires. En ce temps-là, les Covenants se battaient sur deux fronts : l'humanité et Atriox. Ils ont bien failli nous avoir, mais Atriox ? Ils en étaient loin. Même à son apogée, l'Alliance covenante tout entière s'est avérée incapable de le mater.

The Brute. Their leader. His name is Atriox. During the war, the Covenant used his clans as expendable muscle. Told them dying in battle would "speed their holy journey". Forty at a time they carelessly sent them in. Forty to break the front lines... forty to die for beliefs not their own... and none ever returned. Until he did. And so, battle by battle, war by war, thirty-nine brothers at a time... Atriox was born. With every victory his legend--and his hatred of the Covenant--grew. Eventually both were impossible to conceal. And they tried to banish him. In everything we know about the Covenant's thousand-year history, Atriox was the first to defy the Covenant and survive. And his defiance inspired others. Atriox and his Banished raided Covenant resources, cutting a swath across the galaxy; growing in strength with each attack. Gathering killers and mercenaries to his side. The Covenant had two targets in those years. Humanity and Atriox. They almost got us. But Atriox? They never came close. The whole damn Covenant couldn't contain him at the height of their power.
